Step by Step guide to making Bath bombs

Step 1

  • Measure and add the dry ingredients (listed below) into your mixing bowl
  • 1/4 cup of Epsom salt
  • 1 cup of Baking soda
  • 1/2 cup of Corn starch
  • 1/2 cup of citric acid
  • Colouring pigment - Add as little or as much as you desire

Step 2

  • Mix the ingredients together with the whisk

Step 3

  • Add 2 teaspoons of your chosen natural oil into the whisked dry ingredients.

Step 4

  • Add 10-15 drops of your chosen essential oil.

Step 5

  • Slowly whisk the above ingredients together thoroughly.

Step 6

  • Gradually spritz water into the mixture. Don't add too much water as this will cause the fizzy reaction and we don't want that to happen just yet.
  • You should always spritz and slowly mix until you get the right consistency.
  • At this point we recommend mixing by hand.
  • Slowly mix the mixture together until the powder holds its shape when you squeeze it together
  • If the powder separates when you release it then you need to spritz a little more water into the mixture and mix.
  • Once the mixture holds its shape after squeezing and releasing then its ready to be added to the bath bomb moulds.

Step 7

  • Very slightly grease the moulds with your chosen natural oil. This will make removing the bath bombs easier.

Step 8

  • Add the mixture in the moulds. Once you have added enough mixture into the moulds firmly press top and bottom mould together and brush off any excess  mixture.

Step 9

  • Remove the top half of the mould. If it doesn't hold its shape remould by repeating 'Step 8'.

 Step 10

  • Place the moulds in a dish for 48 hours. Remember not to remove the bottom mould. The bath bombs have to set in the bottom half of the mould.

Step 11

  • After 48 hours remove the bottom half of the mould. You should now have a rock hard bath bomb.

Step 12

  • Wrap the bath bombs individually in wrapping tissue paper. These can be given as presents to family and friends.
